“The opening track on this new recording by acoustic guitarist Rob Eberhard Young, with its plucked/hammered guitar and the rolling fretless bass of Michael Manring, brings to mind favorable comparisons to Michael Hedges (who actually plays his harp guitar on one track). But Young doesn’t let technique get in the way of the emotion he is trying to convey. There are some absolutely lovely guitar pieces here, two of them duets with producer Will Ackerman, as well as some intriguing experiential pieces (including a hidden 25-minute ambient guitar loop at the end). This recording recalls the days when guitar albums actually meant something in terms of challenging the listener.”
